With the purchase of Germany’s WMF for 1.6 billion euros, SEB becomes the world leader in professional coffee machines. WMF is an upmarket cookware and appliance maker. With this deal SEB has pulled off a major coup, boosting its growth, profitability and scaling up its annual sales to 6.1 billion euros. With its high profit margin, annual growth rate of more than 7%, a strong global presence in the lucrative professional coffee machines market, WMF was an attractive proposition for SEB.

Before this acquisition SEB, based near Lyon, was already the world’s leading producer of small domestic appliances. Founded in 1925 and present in 150 countries, the French manufacturer is known worldwide for strong brand names like Tefal (non-stick cookware …), Calor (iron, hair dryer …), Moulinex (blender, kettle, shredder, mixer … ), Rowenta ( coffee maker, toaster, ice cream maker …), Krups (bread maker, coffee grinder …), Supor (In China: cookware …) , All-Clad (In the US: upmarket cookware …), Imusa (In Columbia: cookware), Lagostina (In Italy: upmarket stainless steel cookware …) etc.
