MEDTECH based in Montpellier, designs, manufactures and sells surgical assistance robots. It was founded in 2012 by a robotics engineer, Bertin Nahum, a Frenchman of Beninese descent.

In 2007, the company launched the cranial surgery robot called ROSA Brain which guides the surgeon’s hand to ensure enhanced accuracy, comfort and safety to the patient. In 2012, the minimally invasive surgery enabled by ROSA Brain was used by Doctor Delalande to operate on a few months old baby in the Rothschild foundation in Paris. The robot also helps doctors to carry out biopsies, electrode implants and in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.

MEDTECH is now expanding into spinal surgery with ROSA Spine. Both robots, which are made in France, are being sold in Europe including Germany and the UK; in the US and Canada as well as Russia.

There are only a handful of companies in the world capable of developing these robots with their cutting-edge technology and also gaining the approval of authorities in Europe and the US. Following growing demand from healthcare professionals worldwide and increasing expansion in Europe, Frost & Sullivan named MEDTECH, European Company of the year in 2013.

In November 2013 MEDTECH was introduced on the Euronext stock exchange in Paris. The €20 million raised will help the company continue its expansion on international markets.
